Optimized Pillar Content
Search Engines Love Our Super Long Content
When it comes to ranking for extremely competitive keywords, one of the best ways to secure a top position is with pillar content. Pillar content is not your typical blog article. These are articles that will typically have a minimum of 5000 words, but can range up to 10,000+ words. These long-form articles end up ranking for thousands of keywords across a wide range of topics, resulting in a huge number of new clicks to your site every month. What Is Pillar Content?
So What Is Pillar Content & Why Do I Need It?
Pillar content, sometimes referred to as a “content pillar“, is a long-form article that is usually broken up into various sections and topics. A few popular approaches to pillar content are eBooks, in-depth product comparisons, and complex guides and tutorials. Pillar content is one of the best tactics for competing for competitive keywords, and when done right, will result in thousands of individual keyword rankings for a single page. This means that any given pillar page could be responsible for thousands of clicks to your website each month.

What Makes Pillar Content Different?
Pillar content should be more than just a really long blog article. When done properly, readers should want to read most if not all of the article – even if it’s 10,000 words long.
Pillar content is most effective when it educates the reader or helps the reader to make a decision. For example, a tutorial on how to invest in stock options or a product review article that compares various types of printers.
When designing a piece of pillar content, two of the most important things we focus on are topical breadth and topical depth. This ensures that we cover every relevant topic to the keyword focus and provide a thorough, in-depth answer to each question the reader may have.

If we do not already have a writer that we work with that specializes in your niche, we recruit one. Once we have a writer assigned to your article, it will be researched and planned for by one of our editors and the writer. The writer will then create the content based on the established content brief.
At a minimum, we will need to understand the products or services that you are ultimately promoting and a general concept for the article. If you’d like to provide any additional direction we’re always happy to take it. From here, we will perform research, create a brief, and produce the content.
